Fire crews tackle shopfront blaze in Thornton-le-Dale

A flame paint remover caused a fire to a Ryedale shopfront yesterday.
Firefighters from Pickering and Malton were called to put out the flames on Pickering Road in Thornton-le-Dale at 11.06am.
The fire was in the top of a bay window between some lead flashing and timber.

Hide AdFlats above the shop were logged with smoke from the flames.
Shop staff used a garden hose to spray water on the fire before fire crews arrived
The fire service said the fire was caused by a decorator using a flame paint remover.
