Three year groups at a Yorkshire Coast school have been told to stay home because of coronavirus.

According to Bridlington School's website, Years 8, 12 and 13 were all told this weekend to self-isolate.

Members of the school's Sixth Form - Years 12 and 13 - were notified yesterday (Saturday).

A message on the school's website said the school had received confirmation that a member of the Sixth Form had tested positive for Covid-19.

"The student was last in school on Friday, November 6 and showed no symptoms. They have not been at school since," said the message.

"We have sent a letter to all students in the Sixth Form bubble telling them they have to self-isolate for 14 days in line with Government guidance."

Today (Sunday), the school says it has been told that a member of Year 8 has also tested positive for the disease.

That child was last in school on Thursday, November 5.

A letter to parents in that year group says their child could have been in close contact with that student so they need to self-isolate for two weeks.

Years 12 and 13 are expected back at school on Monday, November 23, while Year 8 are expected back on Friday, November 20.

All other year groups can attend as usual.
