Following on from its Easter production, Whitby Amateur Dramatic Society is now in rehearsal for Last Tango in Staithes.

By David Tristram, the play follows the fortunes of an amateur dramatic society in Staithes which is struggling to survive.

It has no money, few members and very little talent. Then Gordon, the chairman, comes up with a brilliant idea on how to make money – a play that will have them flocking in.

Or so he thinks. How will the community re-act to a play about sex? Will it be bums on seats or no sex please we’re British?

Director Ian Dobsosaid: “This comedy is set in the area with local characters and refers to local events which should mean a great deal to our audiences.

“They should have great fun identifying people they know. The humour is slick and sharp and the whole play provides a great night’s entertainment.”

The play is on at Whitby Pavilion Theatre from Saturday May to Monday May 26, daily at 7.30 pm.

Tickets are available from the from the Pavilion box office on (01947) 458899.
