Free summer shows for all the family return to Scarborough Open Air Theatre later this month.
Organised by Tony Peers Productions, Festival of Fun will feature the best of Scarborough’s entertainers and will take to the stage on Tuesday and Thursday each week from July 28 until August 27.
Entertainment will start with a Punch and Judy Show at 12.45pm, followed by face painting and a grand parade of cast and characters at 1.30pm. The activity on stage will run from 2pm until 4pm.
Hosting the Tuesday shows will be the madcap duo Double Trouble with Thursdays once again hosted by Scarborough’s Magic Mike. Both shows will feature local talent from Hatton School of Performing Arts, Pauline Quirk Academy, YMCA productions, Twilight Productions, Rowlies Academy and a guest appearance by the cast of the Scarborough Spa summer show, as well as individual performances from Tyler Jack Smith and Darcie DeFreitas.
Popping up all over the theatre will be the Mississippi Dixieland Band led by the legendary Frankie ‘Mr Entertainment’ Dean.
There will be two special guest appearances during the summer from Street Beat Dance Academy, the current UK Street Dance Champions and qualifiers of the World and European Championships. The Rollason Stage School, from Hunstanton in Norfolk will perform in the show on August 20.
An addition to the shows on July 28, August 6 and August 20, will be a performance from the UK’s number one Jessie J tribute act, Just Jessie. On August 4 and August 27, Channel 4 Big Brother’s
Nikki Grahame will appear at the theatre to meet and greet all Big Brother fans - a great opportunity for a ‘selfie’.
As well as the Festival of Fun shows, the theatre will host free bouts of American wrestling on July 31, August, 5 12, 19 and 26 to entertain the audiences from 1pm.
