South Korean-born pianist Young-Choon Park makes a welcome return to the Stephen Joseph Theatre next Friday, performing works by Mozart, Scarlatti, Liszt and Beethoven.
Young-Choon tours extensively in Europe, Scandinavia, the United States and South Africa, performing at major concert venues such as the Lincoln Centre in New York, the Musikverein in Vienna, Tivoli Koncertsalen Copenhagen and Gasteig Munich.
She appears at numerous international music festivals, performs as a concerto soloist with leading orchestras and is currently recording the complete Mozart piano concertos.
The child prodigy began the study of the piano at the age of four, gave her first full recital when she was seven and played the Beethoven Piano Concerto No.1 with the Seoul Symphony Orchestra at the age of nine.
She went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York and later gained the highest masters degree at the Hochschule in Munich.
Young-Choon has been described as having “real passion and style as well as outstanding technical proficiency” (Sunday Times) and La Libre Belgique said that her technique was “dazzling with an insatiable strength and energy”.
