Kirkpatrick headline act for Moors event

Festival on the Moor launches into its 13th year with a line up of folk stars from around the UK – including John Kirkpatrick.

The four-day event will be held for the second year at Botton Village near Danby.

There will be a the chance to hear the unique sounds of the some of the country’s best folk music performers and join in the workshops and sing-arounds too.

Sundays headliner will be Kirkpatrick – the BBC Folk Award Musician of The Year 2010.

John has become one of the most prolific figures on the English folk scene, performing solo, in duos, acoustic groups and electric bands.

He has been a member of the Albion Country Band, Magic Lantern, the Richard Thompson Band, Umps and Dumps, Steeleye Span, Brass Monkey, Trans-Europe Diatonique, and Band of Hope.

John will perform his ‘Victorian Farmers Year In Song’ which will echo perfectly in the surroundings of the many working farms in Botton and around the North York Moors.

Festival On The Moor also offers a string of workshops for those interested in learning an instrument, creating their own songs or learning vocal technique.

More than 30 acts will appear at Festival On The Moor in 90 performances from May 33 to 26 at Joan Of Arc Hall and Botton Steiner School.
