Energy and excitement are set to accompany the launch of a new music group at Caedmon School next week.
Whitby Music Centre is hosting a new group which will use Japanese Taiko Drums to provide a refreshing alternative to your usual music classes.
Whitby Music Centre’s Bob Butterfield said the energetic drums will provide an opportunity for anyone over the age of ten to make a lot of noise when the group meets, every Friday between 6.45-7.45pm at Caedmon School.
He added: “It’s just so impressive when you see it, there’ll be lots of screaming and dancing and drama.”
Intended to replicate traditional Japanese drumming, Taiko is performed in groups of varying sizes on a variety of drums. Bob explained that it is a great way to make exciting music and keep fit at the same time.
No experience of any type of music making is required – beginners are welcome.
He added: “All we need are people willing to have a go.”
Eventually the aim is to produce a group that will eventually be able to perform Taiko presentations on a regular basis to the public.
