The full line-up for Musicport Festival, back in its ancestral home this year at Whitby Pavilion has now been confirmed.
With more than 50 acts in one indoor venue over five stages this three-day event will take audiences on a world journey.
There are acts from Tuva, Denmark, Turkey, Peru, Zimbabwe , Bosnia , USA, Tanzania, Mali, Iran and Egypt as well as many home-grown acts.
Neville Staple, who was with The Specials and Fun Boy Three, and his band headlin e Friday night, Los Chinches and Saharan blues band Tamikrest are on Saturday and Bosnian singer Amira – who featured prominently in the 2012 Cultural Olympiad and Michael Palin’s New Europe series– headlines the Sunday proceedings.
“There are many hidden treasures among the wide-ranging and ambitious programme,” said organiser Jim McLaughlin. “It is renowned for its friendly atmosphere and the quality of the acts it books the festival is now in its 14th year.”
Musicport runs from October 18 to October 20.
