The third in series of free music events continues at Whitby Pavilion on Sunday with the Gambian kora player Sura Susso.

Now resident in the UK, Sura is regularly seen touring with his brother’s band the iSeikou Keita Quartet.

The African harp player has also become a firm favourite at Musicport Festival over the last past three years.

He has appeared on Cerys Matthews 6Music show and performed for the Queen. His album Sila Kang got a five-star review in R2 magazine .

Jess Wright, the Whitby- based Celtic harpist will also be performing, and the two musicians could join together for some numbers.

Jim McLaughlin for Musicport said “After the fantastic reception all three acts got at last week’s event we are hoping word will spread about these events as we’d like to carry them on beyond the current season. The Friends of Whitby Pavilion are helping by organising a raffle each week and with a mix of acts we believe there will be something for everyone.”

Sessions run from 12.30pm to 3pm.
