AS Royal wedding fever hits Whitby, one business is cooking up a treat fit for a King.
Humble Pie in Church Street will be producing a special edition ‘Imperial Pie’ to coincide with the nuptials of future King, Prince William and his bride-to-be Kate Middleton.
It will be a venison, red wine and shallots pie using meat reared on a local farm and will be on sale in the week running up to the wedding, on Friday 29 April.
Rebecca Agnew, who owns the shop with husband David, said: “Venison is what kings used to have, they would hunt the deer then eat it. We put our heads together and came up with the idea from Humble Pie to king’s pie.
“All year round we represent British food and the British empire and with it being such a miserable time for everybody we thought it was right to celebrate with something really special and that it would be good fun for people.”
