WHITBY’S own version of the well-loved stage show Calendar Girls will be performed by a cast of 14 amateur actors and actresses this March.
Whitby Amateur Dramatic Society is one of the only groups in the north to be given the rights to perform it and the proceeds from the show will go to charity.
Calendar Girls is based on the true story of 11 Women’s Institute members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukemia Research Fund.
The show has since become the fastest selling play in British theatre history. ”
Helen Broadbent, general manager of Whitby Pavilion, said: “We’re really pleased to be playing host to this fantastic stage show to be performed by the Whitby Amateur Dramatics Society.
“It’s great that a local group has been given the opportunity to stage their own version of this famous show for our audiences, and we are sure it will be a huge success.”
WADS host four shows in Whitby every year but this is by far the biggest they have done.
The four shows will take place from Saturday 30 March to Tuesday 2 April at Whitby Pavilion.
