Charity beach ball to cause seaside stir in aid of St Cath’s

WHITBY residents are being invited to the annual Saint Catherine’s Hospice summer ball.

The charity ball, which takes place on 11 June at The Spa Complex, Scarborough is looking to cause a seaside stir this year as its theme has been confirmed as the beach.

With a day-care centre in Whitby, the hospice operates to provide seriously ill people and their families with a better quality of life.

Jane Richardson, fund-raiser for the hospice, said: “Each year we give the ball a popular theme and this year it will be ‘The Beach Ball’. With the sea and beach as a backdrop, the event is perfectly situated to compliment the theme.

“We hope to welcome over 500 ball-goers, who will be greeted with a drinks reception in the Sun-court, followed by a gala dinner in the Ocean room and dancing to the hugely popular Bogus Brothers, making it a full extravaganza evening”.

David Marshall, Director of Funding of Development said: “The success of the ball is helped tremendously by the generous sponsorship provided by our local businesses. We are committed to continuing to provide the high level of specialist care to our patients and their families and this event is a vital fund-raiser for the hospice.”

Tickets are £60 and details can be obtained from the fund-raising department on 01723 378406.
