It may be one of Whitby’s best kept secrets but now Humble Pie ‘n’ Mash has a new celebrity fan after being featured on Chris Evans’ BBC Radio 2 breakfast show.
Dave Agnew was contacted out of the blue by the show’s producers on Tuesday morning and asked to take part in a debate about whether pies up north were better than those in London.
He said: “They tend to have parlsey sauce and fish stock on pies and he wanted to know why we do it differently up here. I said it’s because we actually have meat in our pies.
“I was literally on and off but he was good fun, really easy to talk to and it was a fun experience.”
