Whitby Pavilion has announced three new films that will be screened in the coming weeks at the Venue’s digital cinema.
The Railway Man, starring Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman, will be shown over the weekend of January 24 to 26.
The film tells the true story of Eric Lomax, a British Army officer who was tormented as a prisoner of war at a Japanese labour camp during World War 2. The film received a standing ovation at its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and is tipped to be in the running for a number of Oscars.
A quartet of Oscar winning actors will also star in comedy Last Vegas running from February 7 to February 8.
Starring Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline, Last Vegas tells the story of four best friends who decide to escape retirement and throw the ultimate Las Vegas bachelor party.
The Invisible Woman, which sees Ralph Fiennes reprise his role as Charles Dickens in an intimate period romance centring on the affair between Dickens and actress Nelly Ternan, will also be shown on March 7 to 9.
Jill Gomez-Mannion, of Whitby Pavilion, said: “These three films are a great start to our 2014 cinema programme and we are working hard to secure many more blockbusters for the coming months.”
