Whitby Cricket Club enjoyed a great weekend as both their 1sts and 2nds won their North Yorkshire and South Durham League matches by five wickets.
Whitby 1sts were posed a challenge as first division opponents Guisborough struck 239/6 from their 50 overs, with Robbie Hornbrook putting on an impressive 63 until he was stumped by Will Donald.
Donald has a great day all round, taking four wickets as the Priorymen, put in to bat by Whitby, posted a decent total.
Whitby responded well with openers Paul Harrison and Wesley Ripper both hitting half centuries before being sent back to the pavilion for 61 and 65 respectively.
Donald continued his fine form on the day with a knock of 34 and an unbeaten 25 from James Fawcett helped Whitby reach their target with six overs to spare, ending on 245/5.
Whitby 2nds had a great result when they travelled to bedale 1sts for a third division game.
Spinner Ricky Hall starred with the ball, taking five wickets as Bedale were all out for 186, with Sam Vernon scoring 72, while Adam Hogarth made a useful bowling contribution, taking three wickets.
The 2nds struggled to get going initially, losing their first three wickets cheaply.
Then Andrew Wood and Hall came to the crease and combined smartly, putting on 100 runs between them, with Hall unbeaten on 56 and Wood eventually going for 46.
Robbie Hurworth’s 40 not out helped the 2nds to a comfortable five-wicket win.
