Whitby 1sts are still in contention at the top of the North Yorkshire and South Durham Division One table after an 83-run win at Darlington.
Paul Buck’s men lost the toss and were put into bat, making 199 in 44.1 overs.
Theo Clarke batted well for 56, with Australian Richard Howe, 31, Buck, 30, and Will Donald, 30, all making useful contributions.
Howe and James Hall then picked up a trio of wickets apiece as the hosts were dismissed for 116.
Skipper Buck said: “After the rain we had the night before, batting was quite tricky and Theo was the only one who showed any fluency.
“It was a track that you really had to apply yourself on, but even so I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t manage to make more than 200.
“We bowled and fielded as well we have in a few weeks, however, and won the game quite comfortably in the end.
“We’re in a great position in the league at the moment, just five points behind Billingham who are top, but we’re just taking it one game at a time.”
