Scarborough RUFC power to 21-12 success against Durham City

A much improved second-half performance from Simon Smith’s Scarborough RUFC side allowed them to push clear from the relegation zone as they beat Durham City 21-12 at Silver Royd.

The visitors scored the game’s first unconverted try in the 14th minute as Ellis Hook found space in the defence and was able to power over for 5-0.

The game was level on the stroke of half time as Komiti Tuilagi collected the ball from the ruck and drive his way over the line for his sides first unconverted try at 5-5.

In the 44th minute, the home side took the lead thanks to Tom Harrison who pounced on the loose ball to score another unconverted try to leave the scores at 10-5.

The gap between the two sides was stretched even further as another unconverted try from Drew Govier helped his side to a 15-5 lead.

Tom Ratcliffe kick two relatively straight forward penalties to stretch the overall lead to 21-5.

Deep into added time, City scored a converted try thanks to Brad Pears to leave the score at 21-12 as the full-time whistle went.
