A quickfire century from Carl Simpson won the day for Lealholm in the only Eskdale League game to beat the weather on Saturday.
Simpson (above) smashed eight sixes and eight fours and Paul Hogarth’s anchoring half century catapulted Lealholm to 228/7 with Castleton’s M Wiermouth taking three wickets.
Castleton responded well with O Muir (43), M Wiermouth (36), R Thompson (35) and Andy Watson (32) among the runs, but they eventually fell 53 runs short on 175 all out.
Graeme Featherstone excelled with the ball for Lealholm, taking seven wickets for 62 runs.
Lealholm’s Ian Groark said: “Winner - the pitch, the groundsman ... and the brave last minute 1pm decision to play on it, despite earlier torrential rain.”
