Will Richardson was the man of the moment as he took a stunning eight-for to help Whitby 2nds past Wolviston in their North Yorkshire South Durham League Division Two clash.
Whitby 2nds batted first and made it to 168 all out as the runs were shared around, plenty of batsmen getting in but losing their wicket before going on to make a big score.
Captain Andrew Wood was the only man to make a telling contribution with the bat, his 41 helping his side to a competitive total.
Richardson then got to work with the ball and his stunning figures of 8-46 from a 12.4 over spell helped bowl Wolviston out for 151.
Stephen Crowther grabbed the other two wickets to fall.
In Division One, Whitby's 1st XI failed to close the gap to the top sides as they lost out at second-placed Marton.
Whitby batted first and could only make it to 154-9, Theo Clarke top-scoring with 59 as only Kai Morris and Will Donald offered any support, both adding 25 each.
Despite a wicket apiece for Donald, Jono Chapman, Steven Husband and James Hall, Marton boosted their promotion bid as they made it comfortably to 158-4.
