Ben Braim and Will Richardson held on to seal Whitby a losing draw from their trip to Wolviston in Division One of the North Yorkshire South Durham League.
Whitby were on the back foot from ball one as Wolviston cruised to a massive 257-1 from their 50 overs.
Andy Fish carried his bat for 97 not out, fellow opener Harry Crawshaw hit 67 and David Ward added 57 not out in their huge total, Corey Hart taking the only wicket to fall.
Whitby lost opener Will Donald for five early doors, but staged a fightback with Paul Buck top-scoring on 68 and Ron Lyth adding 41.
Hart (26) and Kai Morris (24) both contributed, but it was left to the last two batsmen, Braim and Richardson, to hold firm at the end to seal six points for their side.
Donald’s side host Billingham Synthonia this weekend.
Whitby 2nds were handed 25 points as Bishop Auckland 2nds conceded their game in Division Three.
The 2nds travel to Seaton Carew 2nds this Saturday.
Whitby 3rds grabbed 17 points from a winning draw against Guisborough 3rds in Sunday Conference South.
The 3rds batted first and made a solid 220 all out in 37.4 overs.
Aron Calvert crashed 13 fours as he top-scored with 80 for Whitby, opener Liam Calvert hitting 60 and Alfie Swales 39 as the rest of the Whitby batsmen failed to get going.
Aron Calvert was then the main man with the ball as he took 3-30, with Darryl Grason taking 2-29, but despite Matthew Smith and Swales also chipping in with a wicket apiece, Guisborough managed to hold out on 147-9 from 42 overs to seal a losing draw.
Whitby 3rds host Marton 3rds this Sunday.
