Whitby 2nds all-rounder Finlay Morris was the star man in their home win against Newton Aycliffe on Saturday.
Whitby skipper Andrew Wood won the toss and chose to bowl first, a decision that proved shrewd after Aycliffe were dismissed for 161 in 49.1 overs.
Morris was the star man with the ball, taking 3-14, while he was supported by Jonathan Chapman, 3-38 and James Fawcett, 1-35.
Opening batsman Morris then made 40 before he departed caught and bowled, with fellow opener Theo Clarke firing 69.
Jack Lyth made 16 but James Fawcett, 4, Andrew Wood, 4 and Arron Leeman, 1, all fell in quick succession to give Aycliffe hope of an unlikely victory.
Those hopes were quickly dashed as Kai Morris, 16 not out, and Mark Jackson, 8 not out guided Whitby to the victory after 31.5 overs.
