MULGRAVE Cricket Club has invest in the next generation of cricketers by splashing out on another level two coach.
Leigh Coates, the head coach up at the Lythe-based club, said: “We have opened the door to all ages and abilities of young cricketers.
“Some of the kids we get are as young as five and some of them don’t know one end of the bat to the other when they first arrive at the club, but through fun and some good coaching, these children are improving every time we see them.
“We have sent our under 11s coach Neil Duell on a England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) level two coaching course over the winter in preparation for this coming season.
“I think it is very important that the younger ones are brought through with a good foundation of core skills and techniques, but most of all they enjoy it.”
Last year, the club was attracting more than 40 kids on a practice night.
“It taken us a long time to achieve this but we are starting to see the fruits of our labour,” added Leigh.
