THREE young Whitby riders fared extremely well when they headed south to Stoneleigh Park for a round of the national Trailblazers Championships.
The three - Bethany Clarkson (11), Sophie Walker (10) and Aiden Roe (9) - did especially well as it was the first time they had competed at this level and they were competing against people as old 16.
Trailblazers is a national competition and to qualify for the championships, riders have to jump double clear in the first round and be placed in the top six in the second round.
The Whitby trio all qualified at Saltburn Riding School.
Results over the three day championship were:
Aiden, on Red Hot Little Madam: 2nd in 60cm class out of 64, 6th in 70cm class out of 92, 7th in 65cm class out of 54
Bethany, on Super Sal: 5th in 70cm out of 92, 6th in 12 and under out of 71, 15th in championship out of 103
Sophie, on Harry: 1st in 65cm class out of 64, 6th in 75cm out of 92, 10th in 65cm class out of 54
Trailblazer’s director Norman Bargh commented on the success of the championship.
“We were delighted with such a busy and hotly-contested championship finals with higher entries and smiles on lots of faces,” he said.
