Whitby 5 Durham City 1

Whitby ladies faced a fit young side on Saturday and struggled to get any momentum going in the first 15 minutes of the game.

The match was pacey with both teams switching the ball back and forth.

Whitby finally settled with some great play from the midfield of Beth Sanderson and Sarah Thompson linking well with the attackers.

Nicola Kent had a lot of room in the middle and made some punishing runs through the centre.

She worked well with Emily Webster who was heavily marked throughout the match. An early goal from Webster made it 10 then Durham scored shortly afterwards with a very quick turnaround.

Kirsty Dixon in goal was kept busy and made some great saves.

It was good to have Jacqueline Livera back on the pitch, showing great determination and skill and working well with Michelle Myers.

In the second half Whitby found their form and Emily Webster got another two goals, Beth Sanderson one and Nicola Kent one.

Whitby ladies put in a good all-round team effort with great passing skills which the squad have been working on over the last few weeks at training.

This was a much-needed win and the team came off the pitch elated with a 5-1 win.
