Whitby’s summer angling festival kicks off on Saturday June 20 with a whopping £5,000 up for grabs for whoever lands the biggest fish.
The three-week festival, run by Whitby Charter Skippers’ Association, will see anglers attempting to reel in beauties such as the one landed by Gary Reid, of Sheffield, pictured here with the 21lb 5oz ling which netted him the top prize last summer.
The spring festival in Whitby saw a dramatic conclusion with rookie Marek Pracovity landing top place on the final day.
He was among a party of Poles fishing on board Rich Ward’s boat Shy Torque III and is back to have another crack at the summer event.
The festival runs to Sunday July 12.
