TWO Whitby sisters have just taken part in bi-athlons for the first time.
Airy Hill students Natasha and Jasmine Kent first took part in the Beverley Schools bi-athlon and qualified to go forward to the East Riding Schools Regional Bi-athlon - part of the Yorkshire region of the Modern Pentathlon Association of Great Britain.
Both were running in the 500m and then swimming - Natasha at 50m and Jasmine 25m.
Both girls were in the medals - Jasmine won the year four girls’ section and Natasha came 4th equal in year six, with medals up to 6th place. The top four in each category were invited to the East Riding Schools regional final at Driffield.
Both girls had to run 500m in heats. Natasha clocked a time of 1.44, lying 3rd after the run and Jasmine in a time of 1.46 lying in 1st.
Then the girls have to swim - Natasha being in year six swim 50m in 41.40 and Jasmine’s year four swim 25m 19.15.
The top six in each category got a medal - Natasha finishing 5th and Jasmine finishing 1st.
Natasha and Jasmine are both members of Loftus and Whitby Athletics Club and are squad members of Whitby Seals swimming club.
