AN action-packed weekend of world class motocross is on its way to Whitby.

Round three of the Red Bull Pro Nationals, which takes place over Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June at the Skelder circuit, on the outskirts of town, has evolved into a full-blown family attraction.

And the Whitby Gazette has a set of family tickets to give away for both days, as well as a chance to learn to ride a motocross bike with the Suzuki Experience.

Whitby’s James Noble, who retired from the sport last year, simply could not resist the chance to compete at his hometown circuit and will takes a one-off step out of retirement to see if he still has what it takes in this fiercely competitive championship round.

Being on home turf and racing at the circuit owned by his brother James will attract huge local interest and attention but at least he’ll know his way round.

Skelder is hosting the third round of a seven stop UK series tour that covers all aspects of motocross with four events in one. Along with the live freestyle motocross show, there are three championships:

* Red Bull Pro Nationals - the best motocross riders in Europe battle it out for podium finishes

* The Red Bull Elite Youth Cup with children racing from the age of seven upwards

* The Fuchs Silkolene 2 Stroke British Championship – geared for the amateur racers

In the FMX Live Tour, there are two or three feeestyle motocross shows where riders jump huge distances performing some mid-air tricks including back flips.

Other attractions include the Suzuki Motocross experience where youngsters and adults alike can try out their skills on a motocross bike in a safe and informed environment; kids’ zone with bungee bouncers and zorb balls, trade stands and shops, food and drinks, bars, rider autograph signing sessions, a Red Bull party with DJs on the Saturday night and all weekend camping on site.

A family ticket admitting two adults and two children costs £30 for one day entry; child under 16 – Weekend (2 days) - £6 or £4 for a one day entry; adult (16+) – Weekend (2 days) - £20 or £12 for a one day entry; programmes £5.
