TEAMS from West Cliff, East Whitby, Sleights, Stakesby, Ruswarp, Airy Hill, Egton, St Heddas and Fylingdales battled hard for trophies at the annual Ryedale and Whitby School Sports Partnership key step three gymnastics competition.

The event, hosted by Eskdale School, was attended mainly by local years five and six children.

Teams competed in body management, floor and vault categories.

Students from Eskdale School were on hand to make sure the event ran smoothly by coaching and judging the teams in each discipline.

Within the large schools competition, Stakesby’s team eventually came out on top, closely followed West Cliff team one.

For the small schools, Fylingdales team one took home the trophy, closely followed by Fylingdales team two.

An air of friendly competition surrounded the event and all teams put in a fantastic effort.

The top three high scoring teams from the event have now been asked to represent Whitby at the Ryedale v Whitby Partnership final at Lady Lumley’s School on Wednesday.
