An Arabian stallion from Whitby has just won a prestige title for the third consecutive year.

Psyrios Contender MWA, owned by Lisa Smith from Whitby, was shown at the Northern Arabian Arabian Horse Show, held at Richmond Equestrian Centre.

He won his class, and then took the Senior Male Gold Champion title for the third year running.

He was then, one of ten Gold & Silver placed horses to compete for the supreme title, where he took reserve supreme of the show.

Lisa told the Whitby Gazette they have had a difficult lead-up to this show.

“Last autumn, he was slightly lame and after having scans at the vets, he was diagnosed with a condition and the vet advised him to go on six-months box rest.

“Having a stallion confined to a stable for that length of time is not an ideal situation, so after discussions with vets, they allowed him a tiny area outside his stable so he could move around a small amount.

“The vet, on a regular basis, examined him over the winter months to monitor his progression.

“Eventually he was allowed ridden exercise at walk for ten minutes daily, building up to 20 minutes.

“We then worked on his fitness levels and have worked hard over the past few months to build up his muscle, stamina and fitness levels. I am absolutely thrilled with him.

“To get him back in the show ring this year is unbelievable.

“He loved being back in front of a crowd.”
