A WHITBY rugby player was set to represent the North of England’s under 18s side after impressing in a divisional trial.
Jonny Coser (17) is no stranger to representing his region, having already successfully done so at U16 level.
A pupil at Barnard Castle School, Jonny represented County Durham in their three inter-county matches before Christmas.
Luke Monument, master in charge of rugby, said: “We are very impressed and delighted for Jonny that he has been able to continue his rugby development over the last six months or so.
“A great deal of credit needs to be attributed not only to Jonny’s dedication and ability, but to the players’ and coaches he works with on a daily basis. To achieve this level a year young is outstanding.
Another pupil, Jack Beckwith, also made it to north of England, appearing for the under 16s.
“We wish both him and Jonny all the best,” added Mr Monument,
Jonny and his twin brother Guy have fully benefitted from the school’s links with Newcastle Falcons Academy by regularly attending sessions at Kingston Park.
