STAITHES Athletic Club is throwing open its doors to one of the biggest sporting events in the area’s calendar when its hosts the Superstars of Darts on Thursday 1 September.
Following the success of the event last year, which attracted British darts star “The Silverback” Tony O’Shea, the club is again welcoming professional players, this time in the shape of Colin Osborne, John “Darth Maple” Part and Peter Manley.
Local darts aces will be given the chance to take on the trio, who all play on the Professional Darts Corporation circuit.
Canadian Part is a three-time world champion and former world number one while “One dart” Manley has a clutch of titles under his belt and is chairman of the Professional Dart Players’ Association.
Teesside’s Colin “Ozzy” Osborne , aside from his skills at the oche, is multi-talented - he represented England at table tennis and is a former yo yo champion too.
Tickets for the event, which starts at 7.30pm, are now on sale but selling fast and they are priced at £5 which includes pie and peas.
Anyone wanting tickets should contact Graham Major or John Theaker at Staithes Athletic Club.
