REDCAR Bears’ new signing Justin Sedgmen finished second in the prestigious and competitive Under-21 Australian final at the Kurri Kurri Speedway, New South Wales, last Saturday evening.
In a fiercely-fought grand final, 19-year-old Justin had a wheel-to-wheel battle with narrow victor Taylor Poole of the Ipswich Witches.
Alex Davies of the Somerset Rebels finished third.
Bears boss Brian Havelock said: “Justin has performed well in both the senior Australian championship rounds and this under 21 final.
“He comes into the new British season with confidence plus match fitness and that is good news for the Bears cause.”
Justin will make his home debut at the South Tees Motorsport Park on the evening of Thursday 15 March when the Bears take on north east rivals the Newcastle Diamonds in a Northern Challenge with tapes up from 7.30pm .
