FOUR primary schools took part in a basketball tournament at Eskdale School.
The tournament was run by the Eskdale School Year 9 Sport Leaders.
Years five and six pupils from Danby, Airy Hill (who entered two teams), Stakesby and Ruswarp competed.
The pupils played a five-on-five game of basketball, officiated by the Eskdale Leaders.
Their responsibilities on the day included refereeing, announcing, time keeping, scoring and presenting awards.
School sports co-ordinator Caroline Watson said: “The leaders did a superb job running the tournament, which went very smoothly.
“There were some excellent skills on display from all the primary schools.”
In third place were Airy Hill, Danby came second, with Ruswarp taking first place and the trophy.
The top three teams have been invited to represent Whitby in the School Sports Partnership Final at Lady Lumley’s in Pickering, on 8 March.
“Congratulations and well done to everyone that took part in the event,” added Caroline.
