Whitby darts ace Richie Parkin is urgently seeking sponsors so he can compete in ranking point events all over Europe.

Richie hopes to attract a couple of businesses or organisations who would be willing to sponsor him around £50 a month.

He wants to travel to British Darts Organisation (BDO) ranking points events with his colleague Glen Durrant, who is “on fire” at the moment.

Durrant recently won the Northern Ireland Open – Richie could not compete due to lack of sponsorship – and finished as runner-up at the Jersey Open.

Richie says some of the more popular events get booked up well in advance – rooms are already being snapped up for the Isle of Man Open which doesn’t take place until March.

“This is a great opportunity for me. There are tournaments every month, going to places like Holland and Belgium, but it is integral I get someone on board,” said the 29-year-old.

“They are official BDO tournaments, all the big BDO names will be playingt and hopefully, I’ll be travelling with the big boys.”

Riche has been dazzling recently, winning the Thornaby Open, his first Teesside ranking event win in five years. He came within a whisker of a nine-dart finish.

The first of next year’s events is the Scottish Open in Glasgow.
