REDCAR Racecourse retained all its 18 fixtures in 2012, despite a small reduction in the nationwide number announced by the sport’s central body, the British Horseracing Authority.
General manager Amy Fair said she was pleased with the outcome and that marketing plans were now being put in place to stage a series of exciting horse racing meetings starting next April.
And she had good news for visitors. Admission prices are once again being frozen.
The last time prices were increased was in 2007.
One of the highlights at the Tees Valley racecourse in 2012 will be meetings on both Bank Holidays - Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 June - to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The Zetland Gold Cup race is run on the Monday.
The season gets under way at the start of the school Easter holidays on Monday 2 April. As is traditional, Redcar Racecourse has a meeting on Easter Monday too, seven days later.
The highly-popular Ladies’ Day is on Saturday 23 June, the Help for Heroes family fun day on Sunday 22 July, the annual Caribbean Carnival is on Saturday 11 August, the Ladies’ and Gents’ Evening is on Saturday 25 August and Two-Year-Old Trophy day is on Saturday 6 October.
Amy said: “We’re very happy with our fixtures which promise a great season ahead for followers of horse racing in the north east.”
