York Potash, the company proposing to build a new potash mine between Whitby and Scarborough, has become the proud sponsors of Whitby Rugby Club’s U15s team.
The £1,400 sponsorship deal has seen the side receive new kit, which features the York Potash logo on the front, as well as new post covers and corner flags.
The U15s, who have only tasted defeat on three occasions this season, will be showing off their new sponsored kit in their match against Ripon on Sunday 19 February.
Whitby Rugby Club, which runs two senior teams and six junior teams, has also used the sponsorship money to pay for new flags and post protectors, to be used in all home games.
Michael Crossling, a coach at Whitby Rugby Club, said: “We are very grateful for York Potash’s support.
“It is fantastic that a business like this is showing its commitment to the local community by sponsoring a local team.
“People often don’t realise the cost of running a club like ours and this sponsorship has made a real difference.”
Gareth Edmunds, head of external affairs at York Potash, added: “We are delighted to be able to help Whitby Rugby Club and as a company we’re keen to help the local community where we can.
“We are proud to be associated with the good work at the club and wish them luck in extending their winning run.”
