Whitby darting ace Richie Parkin’s preparation for this weekend’s Welsh Open is well underway, despite frustration at Sunday’s Eston Open.
Parkin reached the last eight in Eston, though admitted that he let frustration get the better of him on the day, after losing out to Jacob Cookesy.
“I never really played well all afternoon,” Parkin told the Whitby Gazette.
“It was my first competition since March and I struggled performance- wise.
“Work and other commitments have piled up and got in the way, so I’ve not been able to practise as much, but if I’m not playing well and still making the last eight, that can only be a good thing.”
Parkin will travel to Pontins in Prestatyn on this weekend in confident mood, to compete in the Welsh Open, though he faces the prospect of a potential clash with a darting heavyweight.
“I’m looking forward to it,” he added.
“I’m confident, but I’ve been given a tough group, which includes Ted Hankey, so we’ll see what happens.”
