WHITBY Conservative Club was packed for the annual presentation of awards for the Whitby and District Snooker and Billiards League.
Throughout a closely fought season, several teams had vied for the top spot and this was reflected in a much wider distribution of prizes than in previous years.
Last year’s player of the year, DG Brown, who graciously retired to allow younger players a chance at the top prizes, presented the awards.
It was fitting the league’s youngest player, Jack Orrell of Sandsend, carried off the prizes for player of the year and the highest break.
Players and their partners enjoyed a superb buffet and a grand raffle, with top prizes donated by Landers butchers, Billy Wilson and Jacksons of Ruswarp, which was well supported.
