Winter arrived with a vengeance for the Guisborough and District Motorcycle Club’s Allan Fothergill Trophy Trial at Birk Brow.
Allan, a founder member and great stalwart of the club until ill health forced retirement from the scene, passed away this last summer.
His enthusiasm and input over the years left a great legacy toward the club’s future.
Allan’s daughter Lynne and her husband were also spectating at the event and she said: “It’s many years since I attended a trial, but even though the weather is bad, just the smell and the atmosphere of the event stirs many happy memories for me.”
Guy Kendrew topped expert class, beating Ian Austermuhle by just four marks.
His unpenalized rides on the rocks of section five – matched only by Simon Kershaw – earned him the win with Port Mulgrave`s Jack Howell third.
Alan Carr made his experience count to win Clubman A class from Andy Keel with a solid ride and Mike Lees from Loftus came strong to finish fifth, just ahead of Guisborough’s Joe Buckworth.
Returning to the trials scene after more than 20 years, he finished a creditable seventh in Clubman A class.
Dan Peace won Youth A class, level on marks lost with third expert Howell and Callum Williamson, first time out on the AM Ossa, won Youth B class. The Guisborough club thank all involved for the effort and input in such difficult conditions.
