REDCAR Bears speedway team have announced the signing of Australian veteran and former Birmingham Brummies number one Jason Lyons for the new Premier League campaign, which commences in mid-March at the South Tees Motorsport Park.
With his former West Midlands club opting to move into the Elite League next season then the ex-Grand Prix star was seeking a new berth.
Bears boss Brian Havelock was quickly on the case.
“I had great co-operation from the Brummies club owner Tony Mole in getting a deal set up and I’m delighted to have such an experienced and prolific rider coming on board for the new season,” he said.
“My thanks to Tony for that.
“We are getting there in assembling a new squad and once certain paperwork is processed then another signing can be unveiled.”
Jason joins skipper Gary Havelock and fellow Aussies Aaron Summers - who was a team-mate at Birmingham last year - and Robert Branford as confirmed starters in the Bears colours.
