Danby and District Darts League has raised £28,271,45p since it was founded half a century ago.

The league was started by villagers in Castleton in 1965 and one of the founder members was current Mike Cook, who is still playing – and winning.

In those 50 years, the league has donated the huge amount to local people and charities working within the Esk Valley.

The league’s 50th annual presentation night took place at Glaisdale’s Arncliffe Arms pub.

This year’s winners are:

Highest start: 130 – Andrew Fletcher, highest finish: 100 _ Shaun Dowson, most 120s: 11 – John Simpson, least darts: 3 _ Tom Goodchild.

A section average winner: 2.41 – Liam Featherstone; B section average winner: 2.53 – Pete Dowey.

A section winners: Fox and Hounds, r/up: Board Inn A

KE-Col winners: Fox and Hounds, r/up Downe Arms

KO Cup winners: Fox and Hounds, r/up Downe Arms

Millennium Cup winners: Fox and Hounds, r/up Board Inn.

Doubles winners: Andy Hodgson and Mike Hewison, r/up: Pat and Liam Featherstone.

Singles winner: Mike Hewison, r/up: Paul Snaith.

Mike Hewison and the league committee thank everybody who has been involved with the league for the past half century.

“I thank Neil and his staff at the Arncliffe Arms, Malcolm for marking, Keith and Anth for raffle and collection and Dr Ruth Pearce for doing the presentation on the night,” he said.
