WHITBY youngsters can enjoy discounted thrills and spills this half-term as the Kids for a Fiver karting scheme runs at the South Tees Motorsport Park in Middlesbrough.
The Motor Sport Association promotion was launched as a one-off in 2008 by former World F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton MBE at national level and former World Speedway Champion Gary Havelock of the Redcar Bears at regional level.
The interest and demand has been constant.
Teesside Karting Principal Bob Pope said: “Parents and children recognise what great value this offer is.
“For a fiver, the youngsters aged eight to 15 receive a briefing from our instructors, full racing kit and then at least five laps of track time on the UK’s biggest circuit.
“Further sessions can be booked at a discount.
“Who knows we could spot the next Lewis Hamilton as his racing career started in karting.”
Sessions are normally available weekdays from 10am to 4pm in the school break.
