Australian all-rounder Richard Howe claimed five-wickets, including a hat-trick, as Whitby 1sts beat Sedgefield on Saturday.
The visitors were made to regret their decision to bat after winning the toss at the Turnbull Ground when the Tasmanian ripped through their middle order in the North Yorkshire and South Durham Division One clash.
Howe’s devastating spell of fast bowling earned him figures of five wickets for 37 runs.
With Sedgefield eventualy all out with a total of just 87 on the board, Whitby made short work of chasing down their victory target, opener Will Donald leading the way with 46.
Wicketkeeper Ron Lyth struck a boundary to seal a six-wicket win in the 20th over.
