Cara Shardlow will make her international debut for the Great Britain equestrian team at Hartpury College next week.
Shardlow, of Beckside Livery Stables at Sneatontorpe, will be competing as an individual for GB at small tour level on her horse Detonator.
The dressage star said: “If you had told me when I bought Detonator as a three-year-old, and he promptly bronked me and the saddle off giving me a permanent injury, that we would be doing this, I would not have believed you.
“It’s not been an easy road with him at times, but no matter how we do, it will be one of my proudest moments going down the centre line wearing a GB flag.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years, especially my parents, and also my sponsors Horslyx, Saracens Horse feeds, Millbryhill and Wilf Nobles.”
