Firemen shoot best card of season

WHITEHALL signalled their intent to take the A League title with a convincing win over third place Esk Valley with Steve Baker leading the way with a maximum 100.

Ably supported with a 98 from Tim Coates, Whitehall’s 396 proved too much for Esk Valley despite 98s from Nigel Scarth and Jackie Hay.

Esk Valley no doubt, will point to the fact that the result may have been different if they had been able to shoot with five shooters rather than four.

Country Lads continue to match Whitehall in the title race with a convincing win over Castle Park.

For Castle Park, Colin Moore was in his best form of the season with an excellent 99.

Although there is room for improvement, Country Lads shot well as a team with Maxine Atkinson’s 98 leading the way.

With Whitehall and Country Lads both having lost two matches it seems increasingly likely even at this early stage, that the A League title will be decided on the results of the matches between these two teams.

In B League, the mid-season winter break brought about a mixed bag of results with some shooters returning their best scores and others their worst.

Colin Rutland and Jeff Kenworthy both took up where they left off both returning very good cards of 98 for Patch and Watinsons respectively, ensuring victories over Universal and Average.

Farmers handed victory on a plate to their traditional rivals Firemen by shooting two men short.

Even with a full team, Farmers would have found it hard to secure bragging rights as Firemen shot their best score of the season with Mike Holmes and Howard Russell recording individual best scores.
