Derwent Valley League division A title-chasers Flixton 3rds kept the pressure on leaders Kirkbymoorside with a 79-run win at basement club Forge Valley 3rds, on a Saturday ruined by the wet weather.
Twins Marley and Fin Ward terrorised the Valley bowlers and batsmen respectively, Marley hammering 61 in Flixton’s 192-4 and then Fin snapped up 4-31 as Valley slipped to 113 all out.
Veteran all-rounder Pete Hill continued his outstanding form this season with a brilliant knock of 87, while another seasoned campaigner, Pete Wannop, was the pick of the Valley attack with 3-33.

Kirkby’s game at Lockton was called off with the hosts having made 45-3, John Lay smacking 25.
Nawton Grange 2nds maintained their promotion hopes with a tense two-wicket win at home to Filey 2nds.
The visitors posted a decent 162-6, Lewis Adams, 49, and youngster Ellery Liley, 48, both falling short of deserved half-centuries.
Adam Durrant took 4-31 to keep Grange in contention, and then top-scored with 30 as the hosts pushed for victory.
Stalwart Kev Chapman snapped up 3-20 as Filey made Nawton work hard for their win, Terry Ellis, 27, and Sam Myers, 25, helping them edge home with two wickets to spare.
Marcus Edwards had hit an amazing 64 of his Hospitals/Rugby Club team’s 86-4 when rain halted play in their home game against Wold Newton 2nds.
Garry Hanson took a magnificent seven wickets to steer his Muston 2nds team to a nine-wicket Division B win at a soaked Ravenscar 2nds pitch.
John Nelson’s 41 not out was the sole highlight for the hosts on a drizzly day, Hanson snapping up 7-34 and Kyle Orange 2-9 as the hosts slumped to 82 all out.
PLaying through the rain, James McMillan made light of the testing conditions to steer his side to victory with an unbeaten 57, the result lifting Muston into third place in the league and boosting their promotion ambitions.
Wykeham 3rds also kept up their challenge for the title with a four-wicket win at basement club Scalby 3rds.
George Wilson struck 49 as the hosts posted 130-8, and Wykeham were forced to work hard for their win, losing six wickets along the way.
Thornton Dale 2nds were well-placed on 64-2 when rain halted play at leaders Snainton, Paul Waring unbeaten on 39, while Ganton 2nds were 67-7 at Cayton 3rds when the elements intervened at McCains, Dan Reardon having hit 27 and fellow all-rounder Darren Jones having taken 3-32.
