Bears v Rockets clash will be a challenger

THE Redcar Bears face the Rye House Rockets at the South Tees Motorsport Park in Premier League action this Thursday evening (4 August) from 7.30pm, determined to record their ninth successive home victory.

However, the Hertfordshire side will no pushovers, tracking a competent heat leader trio in Jordan Frampton, Chris Neath and Steve Boxall plus strong reserves Luke Bowen and Tyson Nelson.

Commented Bears boss Brian Havelock: “Although we were pleased to squeeze past title contenders Workington last Thursday and then draw away at Somerset Speedway the next night, there is no way that I will allow any complacency to ever affect our performances.

“I am particularly wary of the fact the Rockets have Luke Bowen at reserve as he is a feisty rider who can get stuck in and score points.

“Nelson is also making his mark in his first full season in British speedway and both these riders will give the visiting team manager John Sampford plenty of options if he needs them.”

Although Adam Roynon failed to score at the Motorpark last Thursday after three months out with injury - the 22-year-old Cumbrian bounced back on the Friday evening at Somerset Speedway with a paid twelve tally and earned his place in the nominated fifteenth heat.

So the rust is soon disappearing from the system and his contribution will be vital.
