Bears sign Czech star Kus

Redcar Bears have confirmed the signing of 21-year-old Czech Republic international Matej Kus on a seven-point average.

This completes their line-up for the forthcoming Premier League season which is scheduled to start at the South Tees Motorsport Park on Thursday 24 March.

This also allows them to sign 2010 Bear Peter Juul on a full transfer from Glasgow.

Matej rode for the Berwick Bandits in the Premier League in 2007 as a 17-year-old.

He made national headlines when a crash left him unconscious for 45 minutes and when he awoke, he was suffering from amnesia and spoke perfect English, a paranormal phenomenon known as xenoglossy.

As he had only just begun to study the English language his team-mates were shocked to hear him speaking the language perfectly.

However the effect did not last long and Matej had no recollection of the incident after two days.

Bears boss Brian Havelock said: “Matej has become a full Czech Republic international since his first excursion over here and has appeared in the Speedway World Cup.

“He is a lively and up-and-coming rider who along with Aaron Summers should provide us with solid support to the top two in the team.’

The Bears line-up is now confirmed as Gary Havelock (captain), Jason Lyons, Matej Kus, Aaron Summers, Adam Roynon, Peter Juul and Robert Branford.
