Pupils from West Cliff, Airy Hill, Ruswarp, Lythe and East Whitby took part in an annual hockey tournament held at Caedmon School.
The pupils all played ‘Quicksticks’ Hockey, which is England Hockey’s version of hockey aimed at beginner players of primary school age.
Matches were umpired by Caedmon year nine sports leaders.
The afternoon was bitterly cold but the pupils carried on regardless and competed tirelessly over the afternoon.
Airy Hill eventually came out on top, winning the tournament, closely followed by the team from East Whitby and then West Cliff.
School sports co-ordinator Caroline Watson said: “Well done to everyone who braved the cold to make it a successful afternoon.”
