Staithes bounced back from their disappointing opening day defeat against Cayton, with an impressive victory at Flixton 2nd on Saturday.
They had batsman Stuart Marsay largely to thank, falling just a single run short of his century as Staithes eased home for the loss of just two wickets.
Flixton batted first in this Beckett League Premier Division fixture, on an excellent looking pitch.
Despite the loss of both openers before the score had reached 30, Flixton made steady progress with Franks (38), Walmsley (38) and Lowery (35) all making useful contributions.
However with the introduction into the bowling attack of Paul Theaker (4 for 40) and Chris Morrison (3 for 10), the Flixton innings subsided quickly.
Their final score of 162 all out would have been slightly disappointing, given their earlier position.
In reply, Staithes started cautiously, against some tight bowling.
However, Stuart Marsay soon upped the rate, hitting 12 boundaries and four sixes in a superb innings of 99. Following the dismissal of Marsay, it was left to Brad Lewis (42 not out) to hit the winning runs, and seal an eight-wicket victory.
